The transmission of HIV reflects the structural inequalities of our world. Young, gay, and bisexual men of color are disproportionately at risk for HIV acquisition in the United States. The TITAN model allows us to research how to implement intervention strategies to directly address and eliminate racial/ethnic disparities, while also reducing overall incidence rates.
… the PrEP-to-need ratio represents a feasible and useful approach to monitoring PrEP engagement among MSM in a manner that is proportionate to the current burden of the epidemic. Doing so can result in significant reductions in overall incidence and in both absolute and relative measures of racial disparities in HIV incidence among MSM.
